Terms of use
Last updated: October 28, 2026 · Applies to the Why Block browser extension and this website.
Why Block is a free tool, offered in good faith. It’s provided as is, and you use it at your own risk.
No warranty
Why Block is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement.
Use at your own risk
- Results are guidance, not guarantees. Why Block’s diagnoses and domain safety verdicts are best-effort conclusions drawn from browser signals and third-party data, which can be incomplete, out of date or wrong. A “No known issues” result doesn’t mean a site is safe, and a warning doesn’t prove it’s harmful. Don’t rely on Why Block as your only security control or as the sole basis for a decision.
- You’re responsible for changes you make. That includes allow rules added to your DNS filter, extensions paused during the automatic test, and the services and keys you configure. Review your settings and turn protections back on if something doesn’t look right.
- Third-party services are their own. DNS providers, reputation sources and blocklists are run by others under their own terms, privacy policies and usage limits. We don’t control and aren’t responsible for their availability, accuracy or how they handle your requests. You’re responsible for following their terms.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer of Why Block will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, or any loss of data, profits, security or business, arising out of or relating to the use of, or inability to use, Why Block or this website, however caused and on any theory of liability, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain warranties to be excluded or liability to be limited. In those places, these terms apply to the fullest extent the law allows.
Licence
Why Block’s source code is also covered by its open-source licence, which contains its own warranty disclaimer. Nothing here limits the rights that licence gives you.
Changes
If these terms change, the new version will be posted here with a new date. Continuing to use Why Block after that means you accept the updated terms.
