Site blocked by AdGuard Home?
AdGuard Home is a DNS server you run yourself, usually for your whole home network. When it blocks a domain, every device on the network is affected, and browsers just report that the site couldn’t be found.
Updated November 2026. Menus move around between versions: if a label is a little different, look for the closest match.
Find what blocked it
- Open the AdGuard Home web interface and go to the Query Log.
- Reload the broken page, then filter to blocked queries.
- Each blocked entry shows the rule that matched and the list it came from.
- To check one domain without the log, use Check the filtering on the Filters → Custom filtering rules page.
Allow it
- Quickest: use Unblock on the entry in the Query Log.
- By hand: add
@@||example.com^under Filters → Custom filtering rules (allows the domain and its subdomains). - Not a blocklist? Check Filters → Blocked services and the safe browsing, parental control and safe search options in Settings.
- Restart the browser if it still fails a minute later. DNS answers are cached briefly.
Good to know
- Devices only use AdGuard Home if their DNS points to it. A browser using its own “Secure DNS” skips it entirely.
- If AdGuard Home forwards to a filtering upstream (for example NextDNS or Control D), the block may come from there instead. Its log will show the upstream answer.
